Rome - Italy

Castel Sant' Angelo - Rome - ItalyRome, the Eternal City, the cradle of Western civilization and the seat of the Catholic Church, is now an active and vibrant city which arises in many places the traces of its glorious past.

The remains of the Roman period are unfortunately very degraded, often reduced to foundations, walls or parts of broken columns. Except of course the magnificent Colosseum, impressive both by its size and by the sophistication of its architecture, and the Castel Sant'Angelo, whose primary function was to be the tomb of Emperor Hadrian, but was quickly converted into military position, refuge of the Papacy and Vatican defense.

From the Renaissance are still some beautiful villas and palaces such as the Quirinal, the current seat of the Presidency of the Italian Republic.

Like all Italian cities Rome is full of beautiful churches and of course do not leave Rome without visiting the St. Peter's Basilica .
