Vanoise national parc

Created in 1963, for the protection of the wild nature and especially the ibex in extinction in the Alps, the Vanoise National Park, twinned with those of Gran Paradisio in Italy, covers with its neighbour a total surface of 1250 km2. It's the largest protected site in Western Europe.

With 107 lakes and about 20 glaciers, and the highest point at more than 3000 m, it's it is a heaven for the skiers and hikers in winter as in summer. There are now more than 2000 ibexs in the park, and we can see them feeding on the low slopes by the end of the winter.

Champagny and Pralognan are the start of numerous hiking in this preserved environment. Here no ski lift nor high tension line, only old traditional villages or ski trails are the rare human traces.
